Toyota revealed the production specifications of its first all-electric vehicle, the bZ4X. Compared with the crossover concept model announced in April this year, the overall model remained basically unchanged. The bZ4X is based on the Toyota e-TNGA architecture jointly developed with Subaru. According to the automaker, the advantage of the platform is 1,000 millimeters of rear legroom, which is provided by flagship cars such as Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

bZ4X will get two steering layout options, such as the latest Tesla Model S: one similar to the egg yolk model, and the other a regular version (suitable for those who like the traditional model). In the former case, it is an electronic steering system with no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the tires. It is also easier to use because it only needs to be turned around 150 degrees. This eliminates the need to change the handle when turning around or moving the car in a narrow place.

Some variants of electric vehicles will also be equipped with solar panels on the roof. This roof integrated panel can generate electricity equivalent to a driving distance of 1,800 kilometers per year. According to Toyota, it can be charged in parking spaces without charging stations, and solar energy can be charged in disasters or emergencies.

Market introduction and listing in India
bZ4X will be available for sale in certain countries/regions from mid-2022. However, there is no news about whether Toyota plans to bring bZ4X to India. Although Toyota has not confirmed its plans to introduce any electric vehicles into India, it is unlikely to launch in India before 2024, but we may see some mild hybrid models before then.
